Mastering The Art Of Curb Appeal

When you're selling your house, it’s crucial that you make a good first impression. We can't think of many things that make a house look more inviting than lots of colorful spring flowers! If the warmer weather has you thinking about putting your home on the market, here are some of our tips to boost its curb appeal.

Tend Your Garden

The rest of your property should look just as good as the house does. Be vigilant about mowing your lawn, pulling weeds and if you notice any large bare patches in the grass, put down a seed patch mix. If you have hedges, bushes, or flowers beds in your yard, have them trimmed and looking their best.

Freshen It Up

An inexpensive way to add a pop of color to your house’s exterior is to paint the front door, trim, and shutters. Most exterior paints cost less than $50 a gallon, and choosing a bold, bright color will make your house stand out from the rest of the block. While you’re painting, keep an eye out for anything that might need to be caulked.

Sparkling Clean

Sweep your driveway and front porch. Wipe down the windows, as well as any furniture - swings, tables, chairs - you may have on the porch. If your house’s exterior shows dirt easily or isn’t looking as clean as it could, consider pressure washing. As long as your house has not been painted with lead-based paint, pressure washing is safe for all exteriors.

Finishing Touches

Little details make a huge difference. Shine up your doorknob and house numbers, or better yet, install new ones. Replace outdated lighting fixtures. Put out a clean doormat. If you really feel like going the extra mile, upgrade your old mailbox with something a little more eye-catching.

And, of course, our favorite tip: contact the REALTORS® at Chandler Realty when you're ready to sell. We can't wait to help you!
